Let’s Hoop it out!

So remember that package for my sister I mentioned yesterday?  Well it came in today.  What was it?  An adult size weighted hula hoop.  I had talked to her about how hula hoops help a lot of people lose weight and she decided to get one.  I had planned to get one before the breathlessness started, but decided against it when it did.  But I watched my sister try it and where she couldn’t hula hoop with a child’s hoop she took fairly easily to the adult one.  She got it swinging within the first few tries.  She still needs some practice but it’s awesome to see her do it.  She let me try it and yeah, a bust because I refused to take off my jacket and I was worried about getting winded.  I got it to go around once and the movement hurt my stomach, so yeah, not sure if I will be trying again any time soon.  But I do want to get a hoop one day.  I’ve been researching “hooping” for exercise for about a year now and really want to try it.  And I have just enough room in my room…when it’s clean…to be able to do it indoors.  So I will be looking into getting a hoop one day.

But I still wasn’t sure how to get the thing started, so I went in search of how to actually hula hoop and I found I was doing my hips wrong.  You go back and forth instead of chasing the hoop with your hips.  Now I know, and knowing is half the battle.  Open-mouthed smile  But in my search I of course found some awesome “hoopers” and had to show you this one that I just thought was so cool and awesome.  I want to be like her one day.  Smile

I know she’s just doing the basic swing around, but damnit I can’t even do that.  So yeah, I want to get to that level and then see where “hooping” takes me.  Smile  And well that was about the only highlight of my day.  It was mostly a mellow day.  A little breathlessness from some acid forming over night and no serious high, but not a bad day really.  Cleaned some and see some organization happening.  But that’s about it.  And I just noticed this video is three minutes and thirty-three seconds long.  And here I was wondering if I should change my shop name from 333 Designs.  Nope, this is a sign, I shall keep it.  LOL!  Ok, talk to you all later.  Smile  Be good until then.  Bye for now.

Partly Cloudy

Hey guys!  So I wanted to pop on and say hi and tell you a bit about my morning.  Ok, so I live in a military town.  And what some of you may not know about military town living is that you have to put up with military games.  So if the info I got was right, it seems we had some marines visiting us this past weekend and the military base had military games going on.  Now at any given time you will hear or see results of the military doing practice.  You hear booming, you hear the machine guns, you feel your house shaking, you see glass panes bending back and forth from the pressure of bombs dropping.  And that, like I said, is on any given day.  But during military games?  OMGGGGGG!!!  The other day the house was shaking non-stop and vibrating from the bombs they were dropping.  And it wasn’t every few minutes either.  It was a constant drop of bombs for a good couple of minutes.  Well that was about as bad as it got this weekend, but they still had bombing throughout the past couple of days.  And if there is one thing one of my dogs hates more than anything, it’s loud unexplained booms.  Oh heck, he hates loud explained booms too.  This lead to a rather interesting morning for me.

Avenue Q

So if you can’t tell I’ve been spending a lot of time watching stuff online.  Today I decided to tackle a recording of Avenue Q.  Not the best recording of it, but you get the idea of what’s going on.  So I thought I’d share it with you all.  Enjoy.

Talk to you all soon.  I have some interesting posts coming up soon.  Just need to sit down to write them.  Stay tuned.  Winking smile  Be good until then and bye for now.  Smile

One more for you.

I don’t know why I am on such a movie posting kick as of late, but I wanted to share with you guys one more movie I have watched recently.  1984’s “Night of the Comet”.  I found it on Youtube and it’s still as awesome as it was back then, just a little less scary.  It’s about a comet flying over the Earth and the crazy stuff that happens after it passes by. Smile  Enjoy.

Georgy Girl

{source}

So I have “known” of Georgy Girl since I was child.  My mom has had this album by The Seekers for forever.  She would let me borrow her records and along with the Mamas and Papas this record always came to my room with me.  I don’t recall many of the other songs on this album except maybe one or two others, but Georgy Girl I would listen to over and over again.  I would sing and dance along with this song and at my young age feel they were talking about me.  Can you tell who didn’t have high self esteem as a kid?  LOL!  Here’s the song if you are interested.

Well when I grew older I learned from my mom the song was for a movie called Georgy Girl, that I found out when I grew even older was based off of a book called Georgy Girl.  My mom told me about the movie and well, I had to watch it.  It was from the 1960s, it was British, and it was that corny camp kind of movie I love, so I HAD to watch it.  Speaking of watching, and totally off the topic, the other day I watched a video online of Soleil Moon Frye dressed up as Punky Brewster…as in at her age now, to say thanks to her million Twitter followers.  It was a bit corny and camp as well.  Don’t know why that came to mind.  But moving back to Georgy Girl.

{source}

*Warning, I am going to talk about the movie so there are spoilers ahead.*  So in short this movie is a about a girl named Georgy, third person to the right in the picture, who lives with her best friend Meredith, second person to the right.  Meredith dates Jos, first person on the left.  Georgy’s parents work for James, guy on the right, because basically they fell on hard times and he hired them as help in his mansion, oh did I mention James was rich, and he helped raise Georgy by paying for schooling for her and making a studio for her in his house so she can give dance classes to children.  So the going thing in the movie is Georgy is a fat ugly nobody while Meredith is a thin sexy somebody.  Jos comes over to pick Meredith up for dates and sometimes has to wait while Meredith is out on another date.  During this time Georgy keeps him company.  They are friends even though he calls her names like Fat Face and constantly remarks on her large body…which is easily a 12-14 in US sizing.  Well while all that is going on, James…the rich guy, is dealing with the fact that not only is his wife ill and refusing to go to the doctor for help but try to heal herself on her own but he also is seeing he cares for Georgy in more than a fatherly way.  One night when she shows up for a party he gives her a shocking proposal that she avoids giving her answer on for a while.  She avoids James as much as possible while she deals with new issues popping up in her life with a pregnancy, a marriage, a divorce, an adoption, a death, and then another marriage.  Whew, girl is busy.  In the end Georgy ends up kind of where she wanted.   I feel she would have preferred a different outcome but it gave her what she wanted…kind of.

I know I left out some of the bits and pieces, but I figured I would just in case you want to watch the movie.  And since I aim to please, here’s the movie.  You can either watch it down below or click here for a slightly bigger screen or so you can watch it full screen.  It’s a little over an hour and half.  Enjoy.  Smile  If you like old movies, British movies, or old British movies you’ll love Georgy Girl.

Yeah, I know the video window is big, but I didn’t want to mess up the viewing of the movie if you decided to watch it on my blog.  So I sacrifice for all of you.  Winking smile  Talk to you guys soon.  Be good until then.  Smile

Thanks a lot John.

Ok, so the wonderful John who writes “From the Brain of John”, drew the coolest comic that was based around the song “So Much Better” from the Broadway musical “Legally Blonde – The Musical”.  Well I surfed around Youtube to find out more about the musical and found out that MTV aired the whole play back in 2007.  Well you know it had to be online, right?  Well I went and searched it out and found it and watched it last night even though I was dead tired.  I enjoyed it and plan to watch it again.  So in a way to share with you and have a place to store the link for each viewing, I give you “Legally Blonde – The Musicial”.  Thank John for this awesomeness because without him I doubt I would have searched out the play and found this awesomeness.  So enjoy and sing along!  Smile

Part 1-

Part 2-

Now I think I will watch Avenue Q and an old movie I want to watch first before I post about it.  Enjoy Elle Woods and her friends.  Smile

Cat sings Bohemian Rhapsody!

That is what my sister wondered about today before she left for work.  She wondered what would happen if you searched for that on Youtube.  Well she peaked my curiosity and I had to find out, and you’ll be happy to know that this time around curiosity did not kill that cat.  In fact, if gave me a cat, several of them, that were trying hard to rock out to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody.  But it was a lovely bunch of furballs trying to get their friend to come out and play with that got my seal of awesome approval.  So of course I had to come share it with you guys.  So check out the most awesome rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody.  Smile  Enjoy!

Lookie what I finally got!!!

So this little gem finally made it into my excited little hands in the past week and I couldn’t be happier!  I bought Twinkie Chan’s crochet book and was so excited to get it, and then when I read about her book signings I was super sad I couldn’t go to one.  I got even sadder when I heard about the booklet she was giving away at the book signings.  So when I heard she was giving them away in her shop I got happy again…until they sold out!!!  Well when I recently saw it back in the shop I decided to pop my Etsy cherry and buy it.  Open-mouthed smile  So now I am the new owner of this cute booklet and have already slipped it inside of her crochet pattern book.  Woot!  So yeah, just wanted to share that with you guys.  If you are interested in purchasing your own booklet or the pdf of the pattern, click on over.  Also if you are interested in her pattern book click on over to check that out also.  Have fun and happy crocheting.

Why Artfire kind of puts me off.

Ok, so first of all, this is not a bash on anyone who uses Artfire.  I tinkered around on it and liked it for the most part.  This is just my personal thoughts and feelings on why I couldn’t get into it.

So I got an email from Artfire today that just kind of put me off.  If you have a basic account I’m sure you got “the email” too.  It’s topic was along the lines of “Hey, wanna know why you as a basic member are not making any sales?  Click to find out.”  So I clicked.  And basically it read along the lines of “Yeah, we cater everything to Pro accounts so basically if you really want to start your business you need to just get a Pro account otherwise we aren’t going to help you any and your store will not succeed because we hide you away like the unwanted stepchild.  So upgrade today!  Open-mouthed smile"  Umm, ok, so you are basically emailing me to tell me that there is really no  point in using your service unless I upgrade because you have basically washed your hands of me.  So umm…yeah, about that.  No thanks then.

I mean don’t get me wrong, Artfire is interesting and it’s building, but I don’t like how exclusive it is.  You are cut off from mostly everything unless you buy a membership.  This is the reason I like Etsy more because while some things are exclusive for active shop owners, for the most part if you have an account you can partake in the fun there.  They don’t make you feel second rate because maybe you don’t have he money to fund a shop right now but you still want to stay up on what’s going on and take part in things there.  Now there are some things Artfire has for their shops that I would really like on Etsy, but Etsy seems to be slowly getting those things so that’s a positive thing.  Both sites have pros and cons, which I feel is more personal opinion than anything, but as I’ve told other people before in my mind Artfire is like Myspace and Etsy is like Facebook.  You do the math on that one.  I’ll still keep my shop at Artfire and maybe I will try opening a shop with a Pro account one day if it takes off more, but for now I think I will focus on an Etsy shop and see how that goes.

One thing I hope Etsy never gets though is music in the shops.  Artfire allows that and I hate it.  I think some of the features on Artfire allow for to much tack in the shops, but once again, personal opinion.  Slideshows are another pet peeve of mine.  I like shops to be organized and uniformed.  You don’t find that at Artfire like you do Etsy.  But I think I am done for now and will get off my soapbox.  I guess I just really didn’t like the email and tone it carried with it.  Like I said, it’s not a bad site, but it’s seriously exclusive.  And like I said Etsy has some exclusive stuff too, and I am find with being exclusive, but Artfire takes it to the bullying extent almost.  If they don’t like basic accounts then get ride of them and free that site up for their members then to add more features or something.  I’m sure they will like that and then they can stop making basic members feel like they don’t matter.  Either way you have to put hard work into promoting your shop to be seen, I’m not going to put all that work in to bring traffic to a site that thinks I’m second rate.  No thanks.  Yeah, I’m bitter.  Winking smile  But that’s all I wanted to talk about right now. I’m am off to work on a new blog design.  I want to come up with a theme and logo now that I finally decided what direction I am going in.  I hope to get the new layout and logo up soon.  Until then bye for now.  Smile

Hi!

I've been so busy I haven't even come to check on my blog and it's comments for a while.  I want to say hi to all of you who have found there way to my blog through OWOH!  Thank you so much for stopping by and saying hi.  I had so much fun meeting you all through OWOH and have bookmarked so many blogs I don't know how I will organize all the links.  LOL!  But I'm so glad I got to meet you all through you blog and I'm so sad the event ends tomorrow and I can't continue to meet more people.  But I guess this gives me the chance to get to know all of you better.  :-)  Well I just wanted to hope on and give a big wave to you all.  I will be back to updating my blog soon with things I have been up to and learning.  So stay tuned for that.  Also I changed my comments so that I can respond directly to people's comments.  I'll see how that does for a while.  If I get to many spammies then I will go back to Blogger's comment system.  So feel free to try it out.  :-D  Ok, talk to you all later.  Bye for now.

Edit: Just wanted to edit to say that since I put in the new comments widget it won't show any of my old comments.  I'm sorry about  that.  They are still there and I can still read them, but they don't show on my blog for some reason.  I'm trying to find out if I can make them show, but so far nothing.  New comments do show however, so feel free to comment away.  I like the new format of the comments so I want to stick with it for a while so I hope no one is offended their comment isn't showing up.  I still treasure it greatly.  :-)  Thanks again for them.  Bye for now.  :-)

Our World Our Art. Talk about freaking excited!!!

{source}

Ok, so as some of you know, I am riding the magic carpet during the One World One Heart blogging event.  It’s still going on, by the way, and it ends on the 17th.  So feel free to still jump on!

But I was sad to learn that this year would be the last year for the event. I’ve wanted to do the event for years and just haven’t felt well enough to make something then blog continuously to entertain my new guests and show them what I’m all about.  But then I read a post today that got me all freaking excited!!!

The lovely lady behind One World One Heart is going to run a new event next year called Our World Our Art!  Eeeeee, can you handle it?!?  So basically this is going to be an all art blog event.  No commercial peeps allowed.  Everything handmade.  Couldn’t you just die?  Ok, while OWOH is mostly handmade there are some peeps that do not do handmade and I just didn’t connect with their blog.  So I like it going to all handmade.  Also there will be an additional rule that you have to tell about your artistic skill and show displays of it and a new addition next year is you will be able to add a link to your shop if you sell you items.  So cool!  So I’m looking forward to this event and I have a year to prepare.

Speaking of preparing, this event is still in the works and there is a newsletter you can sign up to, which yes I already have. It’s located on the right sidebar and you just fill in your email address and blog url.  Yes you still have to be a blogger for this event.

So yeah, just wanted to give you the 411.  The noticed was just given today and so I’m doing my part to spread it.  So spread it far and wide people and  be sure to sign up for the newsletter.  Smile

Ok, I’m off to jump back on my magic carpet.  I am halfway through my trip and only have a couple of days left to finish meeting everyone.  So talk to you guys once I’m done with my journey.  Bye for now.  Smile

Hey all! Look at my motifs!!!

Hey guys, so it's been a while since I've blogged. I've been around, just haven't had much to talk about. I have been working hard on learning how to crochet and so far so good! I'm so excited that I can actually take some yarn and a hook and making a stitch or a patch of fabric out of it. My favorite stitch so far is the the double crochet. I don't know if its because I've been doing it so much or what, but there is just something about making the stitch that is so relaxing. I've tried others and they are nice too, just the double seems to go faster for me and I can just make them for hours on end...in fact I did! Take a looksie!

Crochet project 1.

So I took a pause to snap a picture of what I was working on. A ton of double crochet stitches on top of one another. Awesome, right? :-D

Crochet project 1.

A girl likes to watch some "bizarre" stuff while she's crocheting.

Hat front view.

And the final outcome was a hat! I gave the hat to my sister and begged her to model it for me. She didn't want to be in the pictures but agreed to it after I said I'd take her face out...of the pictures guys not literally! So she agreed and I did as I promised, face gone. But you can still get the idea of the hat.

Hat front close up.

Close-up of the hat so you can see the yarn and stitches better. Awesome, right? :-D

Hat side view.

And one from the side. I am so proud of my work and for it being a first it didn't come out to bad. :-D

But then I wanted to try something else. Something that would make me feel like I was "really" crocheting. So I went looking around the Crochet Spot and found the blog entries on motifs. I had to try them.

My first motifs!

These are the three, more like 2 as one is just a repeat, I managed to work out. I'd worked on a fourth one but that one was a bit confusing and decided to call it a day on that one and try it again. Now for close-ups!

My first motifs!

My first motifs!

My first motifs!

I noticed she has a few extra on the site since I worked on the last ones so I am going to attempt those this weekend and report back to you on how it went. If you are looking to start crocheting or looking for some nice patterns you should check out the Crochet Spot. Sign up for the newsletter and get a free robot amigurumi pattern. Must find mine again to attempt trying it. :-)

So yeah, that's what I've been up to. Just really working hard on the crochet thing. I want to open my shop my the first day of spring and time is quickly running out for me to get it all ready to go. So I need to hurry because I have got some plans and ideas people! I'm really excited about this year. I've got some hard things I need to go through this year but once I get through them I will be full steam ahead! So stay tuned and stick around, the best is yet to come. :-D Talk to you all soon. Bye for now.

Oh, one more thing!

Ok, so I was mentioning to my sister today that I wanted to get a domain, and she said “well I’ll get your one for your birthday but just sooner”.  I was like “are you serious?”, and she said “yeah I’ll get you one if you really want one”.  Ack!!!  So I totally want to take her up on her offer, but I haven’t been researching hosts as of late and I don’t even know what I want my domain name to be.  Something mouse related…I guess.  We’ll yeah I want it mouse related, but I do crafts, dolls, and more, so what kind of name would bring that altogether?  I want to keep my blogs, but I guess one I’d want to be incorporated into the website.  I’m not sure.  So much to think about.  I need a domain I could stick with for at least a year, but not sure what yet.  I wonder if I can just link to my blogs and have it all incorporated with the blog?  Ahhhhh!!!  I don’t knowwwww!!!  Ok, I’ve got time to think about it.  It may just not happen until closer around my birthday after all since I need time to think about it and want to go through all my Spring cleaning before I bring it all together.  I have some ideas already swimming around.  Ahhh!!!  A domain!!!  I’m excited!!!  I’ll keep you updated on that.  Smile

What I’ve been up to.

Hey peeps, so I haven’t been doing much craftwise lately, but with the slow change in the season coming upon us, I am feeling more frisky and wanting to do things crafty.  The Earth is a-moving and it’s making me feel like good.  I don’t know why.  I hate the heat of Spring but I love the bright light, and the longer days, and the colors, and the smells, and the sound of kids playing outside again.  But I hate the heat, the bugs with their buzzing, mosquito bites, things overgrowing everywhere, humidity, bad storms, hurricane season later on in the year, 100+ degree heat later on in the year, and just blah.  But I’ll get by and get thru it and before I know it, it will be my beloved Fall again which I WILL celebrate this year some how.  I don’t know how but I WILL celebrate it some how.  But for not, Springtime is looming over us, everyone is getting itchy to get out there and plant, and I am getting itchy to start crafting again.  Yay!  My first plan is Valentine’s items that could easily be Spring items or just cute items in general.  I want to make some cute barrettes that could easily be used for humans or dolls with big heads. I want to more promote them for human use, but far be it from me to keep you from popping them on your bjd,Blythe, or Pullip heads from time to time.  Smile

Project for 2011

So yeah, you guys remember these two bits of fabric, wait, I don’t think I blogged about them here.  Yeah I did it on my doll blog.  Well I was going to make doll dresses from them, and I may still do it, but right now I’m seeing cute barrettes from the fabric.  So yeah I will be trying to make some of those.  If they don’t sell my Valentine’s day,it’s generic enough where it will be fine for anything really.  So woo hoo on that!  I’m going to try making a set in both fabrics and seeing how I like it.  Then I may make doll dresses with what’s left.  Just not sure yet on that.

3 Row Crochet Round

But while I’ve been away I have been practicing crochet.  This is a 3 row round that I crocheted on a recent trip out.  I finally figured out how to do it and I’m so excited.  See I wanted to learn how to do crochet so I could make amigurumi.  Amigurumi is basically a knit or crocheted doll.  The knit ones just don’t look as cute to me, even though I will try making one some day, but the crochet ones always make me smile and go “aww how cute”.  So I wanted to learn crochet so I could design my own and maybe sell them or give them away as gifts.  This right here is the start of it.  I have been practicing the magic ring/circle, and I got it, but it comes a little loose on me so I need to work on that some and then I think I have to basics for making amigurumi.  Yay!  I also want to crochet myself some things eventually, but with me losing weight I will have a small window to make things for myself from the patterns I have and use it before I move out of the size range.  Which is fine.  I can still make these items because there is a lack of full figured clothing on Etsy, so I may still have a market to make these things.  I got the pattern book for myself mostly, but I don’t plan to stay in the size range for long so yeah I will either have to pass the book on or make clothing for others.  I choose to make clothing for others and see how they sell.  If they don’t, then good bye to the book…maybe.  LOL!

Well that’s about it for me.  Just wanted to update and say I’m still here and I’m itching to get crafty again.  I still need to update my blog on with great craft links, but with OWOH starting, tonight at midnight, I want to wait because I know I will come across some awesome blogs that I will be adding to my bookmarks.  So once it’s done, I will be Spring cleaning my bookmarks along with other stuff.  This is the year of downsizing for me.  I will be downsizing a lot of stuff so I will be having a big sale some time this year as well on craft stuff and doll stuff as well as maybe trying to arrange a swap with a few people.  Just some ideas floating around in my head.  I’ll keep you updated.  But yeah that’s it for now.  Talk to you all soon.  Stay crafty!

One World One Heart, final year.

So I found out about One World One Heart about two years ago and found it so fascinating.  The basic idea behind it is that it’s for bloggers, and each blog participating has a giveaway on their blog that you can enter by basically leaving a comment on the giveaway post.  But the gifts are not the only cool thing about One World One Heart, the other cool thing is the blogs you get to find out about that you may have never known was there.  This makes me sad that this is the last year for One World One Heart.  I loved all the blogs I found through it and I know I never would have found them otherwise.  I was thinking how cool it would be to do a similar idea for doll bloggers to do.  It’s just a great way to meet people and build on the community.  So this year’s One World One Heart starts on Jan. 30th and goes through to Feb. 17th.  I’m not sure if it’s to late to participate by doing a giveaway, but I figure you can always ask.  So if you are interested go to this page and read up on the event.  If you just want to visit the blogs, on the day the event begins you simply go to this page and start visiting! I HIGHLY encourage you to look through each blog you visit.  Since there are bound to be over 1000 blogs to visit you should start early so you can give each blog equal attention.  You won’t believe the gems you will find out there.  I’ll update again on the day the event starts.  I’m looking forward to it.  I love reading blogs so I can’t wait for the fun to begin!  Smile  Be sure to check it out!  Smile

Crafty time!

So I’ve been spending a sad amount of time in bed due to my stomach.  So while I am wasting away in bed I’ve started doing simple crafting I can manage to do while horizontal.  One of the things I’ve been doing is making Blythe hats to start including in all my outfits.  I recently got lucky from a room cleanout by my sister.

Early beginnings.

I should have taken a “before” before picture of this straw hat my sister was tossing out.  I am in the middle of unraveling it in this picture.  I am going to be using this straw for some special hats in the near future.  I want to find where I can buy bulk of this straw to make more of these hats.  I made several yarn hats and will take pictures of those soon. I’m thinking of doing a tutorial for these hats I make.  I call them my “Not a Knitter Not a Problem” hats.  I think some people might like it.  I’ll think about it.  Its really simple to do and not hard to figure out so I may go ahead and do it.

Well just wanted to revive this blog again.  I closed it before and then blocked it and now I need to promote it again.  *sigh*  Oh well, that’s the fun of blogging.  Smile  Bye for now.
